During the Byzantine Era, there was a kingdom in Telendos.
The King's daughter was in love with the King's son of the Castle of Kastelli in Kalymnos, located opposite Telendos. The prince swam every night to meet his beloved princess in secret.
One night, however, when the moon and stars did not appear in the sky, he lost his bearings and drowned. Upon hearing the sad news, the princess jumped into the sea in despair and drowne.
This tragedy marked all the inhabitants of Telendos and according to the legend, her face was carved on the slope of the mountain to always remind her of the princess and her tragic story.
